I call this “One Potato, Two Potato” LOL
We put a new higher roost in the “big girls” brooder over the weekend and two of them have figured it out. (Sorry for the red light)

oh man! where do i even begin? first of all - J & K were gone ALL day yesterday. and THEN when they came home it was too late to go outside. and THEN J thought it would be a good idea to clean up our mess from the party we had while they were gone. we were kind of offended about this since we had so much fun throwing food, dirt, water, poop, and fuzz everywhere. i mean it was art, maybe not their kind of art, but it was pretty cool in a grunge sort of way.
anywho... i digress... back to my main complaint of the evening. the neighbors! J opened our side and cleaned up our mess, then she went to clean the neighbors side - as she calls them, the "itty bittys". but instead of putting them in the carrier, she put them... on... OUR.... SIDE!!!!!!!!! what was she thinking? they are so little! they are so noisy! they're going to eat OUR food. "HEY get out of our dirt!" - it was a mess! we didn't know what to do. it seemed like it took F.O.R.EVER for her to clean their side. and then the worst thing happened. she said that we were gonna have to get along because as soon as the itty bittys get big enough the wall is coming down. WHAT!? you mean we're gonna have to share our food? share our dirt? share our... t..t..t..treats? oh no! we are going on strike! no more eggs for you guys! then ethel leaned over and told me we don't lay eggs yet........ oh. *sigh* YOU GUYS!! We had the BEST DAY EVER TODAY!!! Mom (J) took us outside and sat with us on the dirt. At first we really didn’t know what to do. So we just kept close to her. Then she scratched up the ground a little bit next to where we were hovering. As soon as we smelled the fresh dirt we tested it out ourselves. Then Ethel hunkered down and started flapping her wings, throwing dirt ev-er-y-where! Oh it’s on! Chloe and I did the same thing. Joyous dirt, fresh smells, worms and twigs flying, it was the best. We kicked, scratched, stretched, flapped, rolled, and at the same time made sure J didn’t go anywhere. It was glorious! We kicked and scratched so hard that our legs were soooooooo tired. It was kinda funny. Ethel and Chloe kept trying to get up but couldn’t. Hahaha. And then I tried, so I could show off, and I couldn’t either. We were so tired. It was amazing! And we were so dirty! I mean we had dirt in places I didn’t know it was possible for dirt to be. Then we looked up and saw J sitting on the other side of the play area, so we had to check out that part... of course. We ran over to her and then our human dad (K) started tossing worms over to us that he found while digging in the garden. Oh those were yummy! Squishy and yummy, except it was a little hard to just sit and enjoy them because... well... Ethel. So we ended up swallowing them while we were running from Ethel who was trying to steal them. Don’t worry, she got some too. But not before we chased her trying to steal hers away too. haha Oh! I almost forgot! Chloe pooped on mom! She POOPED on her leg! It was hilarious! We laughed and laughed! Mom laughed too, and then she took a picture - haha. Anywho....after so much fun we hopped up on moms lap and she talked to us, asked us about our fun, and stroked our heads and backs. It was so soothing, we hunkered down in her lap and tried so hard to stay awake, but one after another we nodded off. We were out! We slept so good. Her lap was warm, and we felt so safe, it was amazing! When we woke up we got transported back to our brooder where we told the itty bittys all about our day. They were so jealous. But mom reassured them that as soon as they were big enough they’ll get to go out and have fun in the dirt.
Well I should probably get going, J & K are getting ready for bed and we are pretty tuckered out too. Good night y’all! |
